There's lots of family and farming fun planned for the 171st Cockermouth and District Agricultural Show.

A hard-working committee is preparing for the event which will take place on Saturday, August 5, at The Fitz, Low Road.

There will be the full range of classes, including horse, cattle, sheep, goats, children's pets and foxhounds.

As well as a packed industrial tent, show jumping, terrier racing, sheep shearing demonstrations, a vintage craft tent, Bygones Display tent and beer tent.

There will also be lots of trade stands.

A free park and ride will be in place at Lakeland Livestock Mart and a shuttle bus running from Main Street.

In the Main Ring, judging of cattle classes starts at 10am.

The judging of fox hounds and terriers will take place at 12.30pm followed by terrier racing.

Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling is scheduled to start at 1pm.

The grand parade and presentation of prizes will take place at 2.30pm.

At 4.15pm there will be the judging of children’s pets.

There will be lots to see in the industrial tent, including the following classes: bread, cakes, produce, floral art, Handicrafts, photos and a children's section.

Judging in the Sheep Ring starts at 10am, while in the Jumping Ring, the show jumping starts at 9am. Horse parade and presentations will be held at 2pm.

In the Horse Ring, ponies and horses will be judged from 9am, followed by presentations at 2pm and pony club games at 3pm.

Cockermouth Mechanics Band will be playing in the afternoon near the vintage tent. Cockermouth Ukulele Group will be playing near the picnic area.
