A GREAT day was had by all as one Cockermouth company celebrated the long service of five of their employees.

Awards were presented to long serving employees of James Walker & Co Ltd in Cockermouth for 25 years’ service with the business at a ceremony held at the Trout Hotel in Cockermouth on July 21.

Five employees who have each completed 25 years’ service were joined by Peter Needham, James Walker group chairman, Diederik Neeb, James Walker group chief executive officer, and members of the James Walker & Co management team for a celebratory lunch.

Mr Needham said: “The long service awards are one of the great highlights of the year and it is wonderful to have another five employees marking 25 years at James Walker & Co in Cockermouth.

"Our business here was established in 1969 and I am very proud of the loyalty that many employees have for the business.”

Paul Hoggarth said: “I had a great day at my 25 years’ service awards. I was very well looked after by the Directors and Managers, and lovely food was supplied by the Trout Hotel.

"A great day was had by all. It has been a really enjoyable 25 years with the company and I have made a lot of good friends through work.

"I’ve worked in various departments including custom moulding, hydraulic and rotary. James Walker is a great company to work for and I’m looking forward to my next 25 years.”

Joanne Benn said: “The celebration of long service at James Walker is a well-established event for service of 25, 40 and 50 years. It is a reflection of the values of the business that so many employees achieve this.

"I have seen many changes over my 25 years employment at the Cockermouth site and worked alongside some amazing people.”
