Workington Rotary will take part in a set for an End Polio Now Walk to help support the significant and ongoing efforts to eradicate polio around the world.

The event is being held to bring people together and raise awareness and donations for the Rotary campaign to End Polio Now and forever.

Members of Workington Rotary will be joined by members of the public and local schools on Saturday, October 21 at 11am.

The event will start and finish at 1st Seaton Scouts Hall, Welfare Lane, CA14 1PJ and will take place on traffic-free pathways to and from Navvies Bridge, an approximate distance of 3.6 miles.

Rotary Club President Keith Beattie said: "We are really excited to be able to organise the Walk for Polio. Continuing global efforts to eradicate polio is critical and bringing people together in this way to have fun whilst raising money is an even better way to support such a worthy cause.”

Since 1985, Rotary has contributed £1.7 billion and is committed to raising £40 million each year in support of global eradication efforts.
