A charity in Cumbria will host a live music event aiming to raise funds for a community minibus.

Age UK West Cumbria said the bus will be part of its campaign to combat loneliness by creating a free and sustainable transport option for West Cumbria.

The idea is that this bus will get older people out more to socialise and fight loneliness which can cause anxiety, depression, and cognitive decline.

Age UK is a national charity that helps older people with various needs, from home visits to phone calls to help with loneliness, among other things that benefit people who have older people in their life and may be living with common conditions like dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Jane Minday, CEO of Age UK West Cumbria, said: "The name 'Live-Age' is the new music off-shoot of our 'Vint-Age' brand, specifically designed branch out and engage with a younger demographic, creating more awareness of our charity and its services.

“The idea being, that a large portion of people under 50 are likely related to, or at the very least know, someone who would benefit from our services.

“We also wish to simultaneously give back to the community by helping to give exposure and development opportunities to young/up-and-coming local talent.

“This is what Live-Age is all about!"

There are four acts: Colt 45 – a punk band that has played major festivals and featured in Kerrang; Antics, a teen band with a local following and that played at Solfest; Dazed, and; Macca, an acoustic solo artist.
