The year's Workington Christmas Festival and Light Switch On is promising a day filled with entertainment for all ages.

The event will take place in Workington town centre from 11am to 5.15pm on November 25, with lots of free activities, barring the Fun Fair and Santa's grotto, which will have a small fee.

The Mayor of Workington will start the proceedings at 11am from the main stage, located outside Bensons for Beds and The Entertainer, and visitors can delight in the array of live performances planned for the day.

Mayor Cllr Beth Dixon said: "We’re really looking forward to this year’s Christmas festival and light switch on.

"There is an excellent programme of entertainment and family fun for everyone.

"This is always a great event to end the year with when our whole community comes together.

"Thank you to Cumberland Council for providing free parking in the multi-storey car park for the whole day.

We would encourage everyone to come out to support local businesses and enjoy some amazing live performances from our local talent.”

The entertainment lineup includes John Hastings, Somethin’ Brewin’, Shelbie McAllister, Miss Pearl, Workington Academy Performing Arts, Razzmataz, Workington & District Amateur Musical Society, and The Carnegie Singers.

Family-friendly activities include face painting, science workshops, graffiti workshops, a giant snow globe, and writing letters to Santa.

Visitors can also start their Christmas shopping with local producers and food providers who will offer a variety of products and delicious food.
