IT really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Workington - as the town's annual lights switch-on and Christmas festival returned, giving many traders and local businesses a 'real boost'.

Throughout Saturday, November 25 a selection of live acts performed to get everyone in the Christmas mood, including local poet John Hastings, Somethin’ Brewin’, Shelbie McAllister, Miss Pearl, Workington Academy Performing Arts, Razzmataz, Workington & District Amateur Musical Society, and The Carnegie Singers.

Lots of fantastic local producers and food providers were there too, so visitors could get ahead of their Christmas shopping and treat themselves to some delicious food.

Cllr Beth Dixon, Mayor of Workington said: "What a great way to end our year of events. Workington did us proud and came out in their thousands to see the lights being switched on.
