WORKERS at the New Balance factory in Flimby have raised over £850 for Prostate Cancer UK, by growing moustaches for Movember.

Workers from the New Balance factory were able to raise the cash by growing moustaches for Movember. The fundraiser was organised by New Balance’s Community, Connection & Charity Committee who helped raise awareness of the event and was responsible for co-ordinating the activity.

The money, which was donated by the factory’s workers and their families, included a £200 donation from New Balance. One New Balance associate went the extra mile and added £272 in extra donations by dying his moustache pink.

The Committee, whose guiding principle is stated as ‘uniting our passion and purpose to bring healthy and positive change through movement to communities around the world’ #NBGivesBack, also supports North Lake Foodbank.

Commenting on the company’s successful fundraising push, Daniel Holtby, New Balance’s Operational Director, said: “I am extremely proud and delighted with everyone’s hard work in raising the funds for Prostate Cancer UK, a particularly worthwhile cause. It was a collective effort on behalf of everyone involved and the amount raised exceeded even the most optimistic expectations.”

Daniel added: “I would just like to offer a special thank you to Rachel Stewart for her work with the local press; Kevin Johnston whose idea it was to concentrate on Movember for Prostate Cancer UK.; Paul McGuirk for Best Moustache and Ashley Ross for Best Beard. In fact it was Paul’s sponsored pink moustache that made such a positive difference to the amount we raised.”
