POLICE seized £800 of cocaine whilst conducting several stop searches in Workington. 

Police patrolled Workington town centre over New Year and a substantial amount of cocaine was confiscated from members of the public. 

A Cumbria Police spokesperson said: "Allerdale NPT have been out on foot patrol tonight in Workington town centre.

"Stop searches were conducted throughout the night and over £800 worth of cocaine was taken off the streets.

"One individual even had the audacity to consume his drugs in front of a police vehicle resulting in a short foot chase before they were apprehended."
