Kirkgate Arts and Heritage is launching a variety of educational summer workshops with skilled instructors.
Writing, crafting, and cooking courses will commence in the following months, providing the community with exciting ways to engage their creativity.
Jacqui Currie MA, lecturer in Creative Writing for the Open University, will introduce a five-week memoir writing workshop starting May 9.
Howlin' Mat, Jocelyn West, Vega Brennan, and Helga Put will conduct workshops for Heritage's crafts@Kirkgate series, teaching cigar box guitar making, decorative item crafting, lino printing, and wire work.
Helen Johnston, Kirkgate community projects officer, said: "We’re delighted with the wide range of creative activities that we’ve managed to line up for the summer months.
"It’s a real opportunity for people to explore their creative sides, meet other like-minded people and maybe take home a nice memento too!
“I would urge people to book up early however as these activities are very popular and spaces fill up fast!”
Among the workshops, many opportunities are available.
A class concerning the creation and printing of linocuts takes place on June 15, a flower pressing session on July 27, and a Midsummer cooking with herbs course on June 26.
For those interested in music, on June 1, a course on making one's own cigar box guitars will be led by guitarist, Howlin' Mat.
For more information on any of the courses that are due to take place, check out the what’s on section of the Kirkgate website.
