Mountain rescuers were deployed to help a 10 year old stuck in a river.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) said Cumbria police alerted them with a ‘very worrying report’ of this.

They then raced to the base to attend the callout, when one KMRT member who lives nearby went to the river - River Greta.

The team member said: “The water was only thigh deep on me but he was only a little lad, so it was too strong for him to get back across to the shore.

“I just waded in and fetched him back across.”

One of their faster rescues, it involved 14 team members and took 14 minutes.
