SUNSHINE, dancing and good times were the order of the day in a Workington village as the Seaton Carnival returned, with hundreds of villagers lining the streets to support the annual event.
The 113th Seaton Carnival took place on Saturday, June 8 with the same excitement surrounding the event as it has for over a century.
As has happened for many years, Claire Ferguson's School of Dance (CDAC) led the procession with a fantastic themed acro and dance performance, with the boys from Seaton Rangers RLFC helping to keep crowds entertained with their own performances along the route, and the Pack Horse supplying some more fantastic scenes.
Chairman of the Carnival committee, Lauren Woodman said: "We had a fantastic turnout and great weather the atmosphere was amazing, with seven beautiful floats.
"The carnival was led by CDAC and their 'Wonderland' themed dance and acro performance.
"Throughout the parade we also had entertainment from The Pack Horse, Seaton Rangers and Seaton Rangers youths so the crowds were entertained throughout.
"We would like to thank West Cumbria Search & Rescue for their support on the day along with AJ Security and our other volunteer road marshals who kept all the participants and spectators safe."
Prizes were handed out on the day. The best overall float went to Seaton Snow Queen, Best Child in Carnival went to Seth Ford as Hot Wheels, and best entertainment on route was a draw between Seaton Rangers and Seaton Ranger Youths.
Organisers have thanked all those who supported the event for their generous donations which allow the carnival to return every year - as they confirmed the carnival will see its 114th birthday when it returns to the village next year.
Lauren said: "This year's carnival was sponsored by Kowloon, Holmen, The Pack Horse, Sandelands Funeral Directors, Askew Groundworks and Seaton Rugby Club.
"The committee and I would like to thank the people of Seaton for their continued support - the street collection raised £1,000.
"We will be back on Saturday, June 14 2025 and wish the rest of this year's carnivals the very best of luck."
