A WEST Cumbrian doctors surgery have received a huge cheque from the Freemasons, after one of its members has been fundraising for the surgery in recent months.
Castlegate and Derwent Surgery in Cockermouth were delighted to receive a cheque from the Skiddaw Masonic Lodge for £1,275, at a presentation to staff last Tuesday, December 10.
Thomas Irving, Worshipful Master, has been fundraising for the surgery and has raised the huge amount that will go to very good use by our nursing team and patient care.
In a statement, Castlegate and Derwent Surgery said: "We held a cheque presentation on Tuesday with our GP partner Dr Carolyn Rigg, practice manager Claire Raven, Lynn Lancaster, ACP(diabetes) and lead nurse Clare Daniels.
"We are planning to purchase education tools that can be used throughout surgery but in particular the diabetic education sessions, and equipment starter kits that our GP medical students will use when they start their patient clinics.
"We are proud to be a training practice and help educate the future NHS clinicians of the future.
"Investing in patient education is also extremely important for the prevention of conditions and self-management of their health.
"Thank you so much and a fantastic early Christmas gift."
