A Keswick road was closed for several hours after a tractor hit scaffolding while trying to negotiate a corner.
The collision happened on the corner of Main Street and Bank Street just before 3pm yesterday.
The tractor, driven by a 25-year-old man, was towing a trailer piled with plastic-wrapped bales when it collided with scaffolding outside the town hall.
The scaffolding was deemed unsafe after the crash and the road was closed for several hours while it was dismantled.
Tailbacks were reported in both directions.
A police spokesman said nobody was hurt in the incident.
A spokesman for Allerdale council, which owns the town hall, said the building had not been damaged.
The scaffolding was in place to allow work to be carried out on the clock on the building, which is owned by Keswick Town Council.
Town clerk Lynda Walker said work was currently being done on the clock off site and by Cumbria Clock Company and the scaffolding would be put back in place at a later date to allow it to be put back.
