Asda has announced that it is in redundancy talks with members of staff as it looks to bring in a number of major changes.
The supermarket giant is looking to merge key leadership positions in its efforts to reduce "complexity” in the business.
This overhaul will see the section manager and trading manager roles combined to simplify management at the "struggling" company.

These new roles will report to the Asda operations managers, leading to the loss of an undisclosed number of roles.
Asda has informed staff of the move, but added that these redundancy conversations have not been happening at every store.
According to The Grocer, these changes will not impact Asda Express convenience locations.
The chain has said that it hopes that the move would result in around 20% of its store management staff being promoted, leading to increased pay and benefits.
The move will see section leaders become team leaders and take on a broader range of responsibilities.
According to Retail Gazette, this comes after the brand made a series of department changes as well as a round of redundancies in March.

There have also been tensions between GMB and the retailer in the last 12 months over pay.
Discussing the recent changes, an Asda spokesman said: “We’re focused on making Asda the UK’s best value full-service supermarket by providing customers with an outstanding experience every time they shop, and having the right store leadership structure in place is key to delivering this.
“The investment in this new structure brings decision-making closer to the shop floor, and our customers by clarifying roles and providing clearer accountabilities. It also creates more opportunities for colleagues to develop their careers and progress into store management roles, with a significant number of immediate promotions confirmed today. We will be offering our full support to other colleagues impacted by the changes.”
