Even referee Stephen Donald remarked that the Sunday County Cup clash between Sun Inn First and Sun Inn Athletic was one of the best games he had officiated.

Athletic were 2-0 up at half-time thanks to Neil James and a towering header from Joe Hibbert before their opponents battled back to level with goals from Richard Hudson and Wayne Iredale and the latter snatched victory in the dying minutes off the post.

Salterbeck were unstoppable as they romped to a 14-1 against Soul Suite, with five goals from Nathan Brash, braces for Joe Courtney, Paul Monkhouse and Niall Melton and one each for Ewan Robinson, Paul Bonner and Carl McCoy. Kieran Thornborrow grabbed Soul Suite’s consolation.

Jordan Hawthorne’s hat-trick helped Pack Horse to a 9-2 win at Senhouse Street Club, with a pair of goals from Brandon Renney, two more from Connor McCrickard and one each for Connor Hammell and Gareth Brunton. Chris Taylor and Andrew Brown scored consolation goals for Senhouse.

Dearham and Workington shared six goals as goals from Jack Dunstan, Dale Hooper and Steven Stoddart were matched by two from Macauley Sharp and another from Luke Mitchell, with Dearham winning 8-7 on penalties.

Ben Powell continued his rich vein of goalscoring form with a hat-trick against Thornhill for Seaton Royal Oak, with Carl Denver also on the scoresheet for the victors.

Silloth Albion v FC Cosmos Whitehaven, Mirehouse Whitehaven v Highfield, Deer Orchard v Northside and St Bees Athletic v Red House were all off.

Maryport United were in Workington Sunday League action at home to Maryport Labour Club in Division One and came out on top 2-1 thanks to goals from Brandon Birks and Ellis Graham, with Gavin Graham replying for Labour.
