Whitehaven-born goalkeeper Dean Henderson has been linked with a move to Championship outfit Bristol City.
Reports in The Sun over the weekend hinted at a possible £1million deal for the 21-year-old Manchester United shot-stopper.
Henderson, who started his career at Carlisle United, has spent the season on loan with Shrewsbury Town, helping them to secure a place in the League One play-off final.
Henderson was also named in the PFA team of the year for League One after conceding just 37 goals and keeping 19 clean sheets.
Reports say Bristol City manager Lee Johnson has the money to spend on a new keeper and he is keen on Henderson, who is out of contract at Old Trafford this summer.
But he may face competition for his signature with others rumoured to be interested including Arsenal and Aston Villa.
Henderson has been in fine form throughout the season, earning a call-up to the England Under-21 squad in March.
And he was also part of the Young Lions side than won the U20 World Cup last year.
