Papua New Guinea star David Mead has been identified as one of Catalans Dragons' biggest threats by Haven player-coach Carl Forster.

The winger, who has been struggling with injury in recent weeks, would be a danger man for the Super League side if he takes to the field for Saturday's Ladbrokes Challenge Cup tie in Perpignan.

Forster, who admitted his squad's focus slipped last Sunday when their seven-game unbeaten run came to an end against North Wales Crusaders, says his players' concentration levels need to be high to combat the French club's star men.

"Mead has been playing really well but he's been injured for the last two weeks so we don't know whether he'll play," said Haven's player-coach.

"Micky Mc [Michael McIlorum] in the middle and Tony Gigot, who I lived with in London when we were at the Broncos, are threats too.

"We'll have to be at 100 percent and hope they're at 50 percent. They've got talent all over the park and a big pack we've got to deal with."

Mead, who played for Brisbane Broncos and Gold Coast Titans in Australia before joining Catalans, played alongside Haven's Jessie Joe Parker and Dion Aiye at the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.

His Catalans team currently sit bottom of Super League and lost to league leaders St Helens last Thursday night.

Forster said: "We've got to treat it as another game, the same as any League One game. We'll keep things as simple as possible and chance our arm.

"It's not impossible but no one is expecting anything from us. All the lads are looking forward to it, we were probably looking forward to it a little too much against North Wales but we're only human.

"We'll learn from it being a distraction in the future. We can start making plans now, we're going there with no pressure and to enjoy the experience."

The Haven squad will travel to France on Friday for Saturday's 3.30pm kick off before flying home on Sunday.

"It should be pretty easy to get everyone up for this one," said Forster. "It's a once in a lifetime game for a lot of us.

"On Sunday nothing went right, we bombed chances and gifted them tries. We're weren't at the races and credit to North Wales, they played well.

"It was just one of those days, we can't beat ourselves up over it."

Forster will be keeping an eye on Mark Shackley and James Tilley, who are both recovering from injuries, throughout the week before naming his squad.
