Supermoto ace Chris Hodgson hopes to put more crucial points on the board in his push for another pair of British titles at his home track this weekend.

The second round of this year’s series comes to Rowrah Raceway tomorrow and Sunday and 14-time British champion Hodgson wants to reverse the trend of struggling on his local circuit to edge ahead of his rivals.

Hodgson, of Maryport, started his push for more silverware with a win and a runner-up finish in the first two races on the Three Sisters Circuit at Wigan.

And he is eager to build on that this weekend even though he is on a track he has not seen for more than two years.

“At round one I was just happy to pick up points but I’ll just wind it on and hope for the best this time,” he said.

“I haven’t raced there for more than two years so I’m going to have to get dialled in pretty fast.

“Usually I don’t do so well around there even though it’s my home circuit so I’m hoping to turn that around.

“I think I put a bit too much pressure on myself because it’s a local one.

“The first round I felt fit which was a bonus because normally that’s the one where you find out your weaknesses.

“I think they’ve changed what we would call the off-road part and tarmacked the jumps.

“It’ll just be a bit different.”

Practice and qualifying is set to get under way at 10am on both of the race days, with the racing due to start between 11.30am and midday.

Each race will last about 15 minutes, with more than 20 racers going up against each other for vital points to haul them up the standings.
