West Cumbrian prop James Donaldson is set to make his long-awaited comeback for Hull KR tonight - after a 10-month injury lay-off.

Donaldson has been named in coach Tim Sheens' 19-man squad for their Super League clash with Huddersfield Giants, live on Sky.

The former Wath Brow Hornets packman has been missing since Good Friday last year when he damaged his anterior cruciate ligament.

But now he is back and raring to make his mark, starting tonight.

"It has been a long process once again," admitted Donaldson. "But now it is finally coming to an end.

"I got some game time at York last weekend and I have just had to bide my time but it will be great to finally run out with Hull KR.

"I have been ready to play for about a month and the club cut my training down and I did a lot more fitness work as they expected me to play.

"But the lads that were playing were doing a really good job so I didn't get a chance and then we had a lay off with the weather.

"So I was okay to go to York as I knew it was the best thing to help me get back into the team and now I have got the reward for that."

Donaldson has suffered at the hands of injury in the past, with this being his third ACL problem.

But he says this was the easiest to recover from, using his past experiences to set him on the right road.

"I think this was the easiest of the three," he said. "You learn a lot about yourself when you get injured as you spend a lot of time on your own, away from the team.

"You have to find a way of coping and it isn't easy at times but I made sure I did all the right things to get back as soon as possible."

Donaldson admitted the last month has been the toughest as he was ready to get out on the field.

So he is set to grab his chance with both hands tonight and he is keen to help his side prosper.

"We haven't got off to the best of starts but the games we have lost, there hasn't been much in it," said Donaldson.

"Maybe we have just switched off for five or 10 minutes and it has cost us games but we have proved we can compete with the top teams."
