Workington Town forward Karl Olstrom says he turned down a deal from Whitehaven to remain at the club for the next two years.
The club announced on Saturday that Olstrom has extended his stay at Zebra Claims Stadium for two further years.
He joins a number of players who have committed their futures to the club as Phil Veivers prepares his side for the 2016 season.
“I got an offer from Whitehaven,” Olstrom said. “But Workington have stuck by me through a few things over the years and I decided to stay with the boys.
“All my mates have signed on and I enjoy playing alongside them. I really like the club so I decided to stay.”
Olstrom made his 22nd appearance of the season in Sunday’s 27-14 defeat to Dewsbury Rams.
Reflecting on the game, he said: “We started poor and they came out of the blocks, we can’t chase games like that.
“It seems to take a scuffle for us to get fired up and it really shouldn’t do.
“We were good in the second half but we need to start strongly against Featherstone next weekend and do the full 80.
“I think we’ll be missing a few players so it’s up to people to step up to the mark.”
