Deer Orchard reached the quarter-finals of the FA People's Cup northern round in Manchester on Sunday - and vowed to be back again next year.
The Workington Sunday League side had already won the Cumbrian round of the competition and then went on to the regionals, where they faced a tough task.
To reach the national stage they had to win the overall competition but, despite a great performance, they went out in the quarter-finals.
Deer Orchard played three games in the group stage and finished second after going unbeaten with two draws and one loss.
They moved on to the quarter-finals when they met Up the Sail, from Liverpool and drew 1-1 at full time with Callum West scoring. The clash went to penalties and in the end their opponents won 2-0.
"We will definitely give it a go again next year," said goalkeeper Lee Meddings. "It is a great free tournament from the FA and definitely worth doing. It is a great way to get people involved in football."
