Workington Town assistant coach Craig McDowell apologised to fans after his side threw away a half time lead to go under at London Skolars.

McDowell admitted after the clash, which they lost 34-32: “It really was a game of two halves.

“I feel awful for our fans who have made the long trip down.

“We are very deflated and very disheartened.

“There are a lot of players in the dressing room who are looking at themselves thinking they have let themselves and their team-mates down.

“We were ahead 26-10 at half-time but we were not overly happy.

“It don’t think we felt we had the game won at half-time.

“We were very flat and very disorganised we didn’t respect London enough”

“Looking around our dressing room, a number of players play at a very high level and may be higher.

“But it was just not good enough today.

“We are gutted as a team we have two very big games coming up.

“If we can’t fire up ourselves for the Leeds game in the Challenge Cup [on Friday] and the home game against Haven a week after that [on Good Friday], then nothing will.”
