Ben Stephenson and Finlay Cairns sensationally ran away from the rest of the field in the third round of Workington Golf Club’s Junior Bowe Cup.
Even a gross 70 from an in-form Michael Cullen with a net 63 couldn’t stop the duo.
Finlay has been working hard on his game of late and this has shown with an amazing 89 gross, less 31 for a net 58.
Some brilliant golf was played but it was not enough on the day to stop the phenomenal golf played by Ben.
His commitment to his golf came through with a score of 97 gross, less 43 for a net 54.
The 66th Cumbria Boys Championship was keenly fought out at a newly-refurbished Stoneyholme Golf Course.
Practice and commitment clearly paid off for Jay Hyde with a superb net 65 that was enough for him to claim the prestigious best Under-14 Trophy.
The Workington junior section was well represented at the tournament by Jay Hyde, Dominic Youdale, James Keenan, Dan Rudd, Billy John, Ben Stephenson, Michael Cullen and Finlay Cairns.
Workington’s James Keenan’s season then got even better, as he won the Penrith Golf Club Junior Open.
He took the title with a -2 net 67 score. and some brilliant golf.
