Seaton Rangers ace Miguel Blanco-Charters has been called up to the Spanish national rugby league team’s train-on squad ahead of qualifiers for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup.

Blanco-Charters, who was born in Spain but came to the UK when he was six, has been selected for the national side previously, notably for the qualifiers for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.

Spain are in Pool A with Ireland and Italy and are battling to finish in one of the top two spots to qualify from the group for the cup, which will be held in England.

They are set to play Ireland in Valencia on October 26 then Italy on November 2.

Head coach Darren Fisher said: “The squad looks well balanced. I’m happy with the new faces coming in and we should have a good blend of experience.”
