A new venue for pups in trailing at Lamplugh hosted a trial trail on Saturday.

James and Ava McClellan’s Miss Ava and Lady Ava dominated the proceedings, with Ellie and Grace Napier and Brooke Butler’s Foxparke Bugaboo in third as 17 ran in a time of nine minutes and 19 seconds.

In the seniors James and Ava’s Mine beat in Glenis and Ray Farren’s Jenny’s Oracle and Joel Bulman’s Baba O’Riley, with 25 running in seven minutes and 55 seconds.

On Sunday at Cardurnock, Denise Bland’s Jenny’s Quest led the way beating Keith Lynch and Darren McMaster’s Time Will Tell and Ashley Horn and Chris Henderson’s Intensity in third, with 10 running in seven minutes and 10 seconds.

In the seniors the Telford family's Fire Gun led in Polaris and Mo Salah in a field of 10 and a time of six minutes and 52 seconds.

The second senior races saw Sportsman beat Fire Bolt and Copperfield as six ran in a time of seven minutes and 10 seconds.

Major diary dates for trails in 2020 include the dog produce on June 6 for the Whitehaven area, the bitch produce on July 11 for the Carlisle and Penrith area, the premier trails on August 8 which are open to areas and the October trails on October 3 for Cockermouth and Workington area.

International trails will also be held on Saturday, June 20 or the following Saturday in HTA venues which are to be put forward to international secretary Lee Wall.

The Ulverston area have put forward Corney Fell to host the 2020 May Day trail.

Due to May Day being a Friday rather than a Monday this year, it is envisaged that the appropriate day would be Saturday, May 9.

Any other applicants wishing to host the trail should write to the secretaries by Sunday, February 16.

The HTA is also looking for a new secretary, with applicants required to register their interest in the post in writing to the chairman at 2 Oldfield Road, Windermere LA23 2AZ by Saturday, February 29.

A trial trail which is set to take place at Cardurnock at 2.30pm on Sunday will be a full puppy trail.
