West Cumberland Orienteering Club continued their urban sprints with an event in Maryport.

On the long 4.1km course, Jamie Rennie won in 24:22 with Sam Stead just behind in 24:40 and Charlie Rennie third in 24:59.

In the women’s competition Helen Rennie was first, with Lynne Thomas second and Alex Crawford third.

On the short 2.9km course, Emma Crawford won in 22:06, with Wilf Teasdale second and Issy Sunley third.

At the weekend there was a good club turnout at an event run by club neighbours Borderliners on Askham Common.

On the 10.2km brown course club member and Great Britain squad member Alastair Thomas, won in 48:45, with fellow British runner Zac Hudd second in 49:11.

The club also took the honours on the 6.8km blue course with Mike Billinghurst in 47:01 as Alan Irving was third, Wilf Teasdale fourth, Howard Leslie sixth and Stuart Crawford eighth. Lynne Thomas was first lady in 11th, with Caitlin Irving second.

On the popular 4.5km green course Herbie Ashworth won emphatically in 29:48, while Daniel Heppell was second, Emma Crawford third, Isabel Sunley fourth, Isaac Hunter sixth, James Birkinshaw seventh and Roger Thomas eighth.

On the 3.6km short green course Sophie Crawford took second and on the 3.8km orange course Hannah Birkinshaw was secod and Jennie Stein third.
