WORKINGTON AFC have announced two new deals for squad members preparations for the 2021/22 season continue.

Utility man Robbie Hebson and striker Charlie Bowman have both put pen to paper on new deals with the club.

Versitile right-sided defender and midfielder Hebson is in his second spell with the club. The 23-year-old returned to Borough Park in the summer of 2019 and was a regular fixture in the matchday squad.

However his 2020-21 campaign was blighted by injury, and he only returned to fitness after the season was suspended.

Speaking to Workington AFC's website, Hebson said: "I'm buzzing to be honest. I'm really happy to have been asked to come back because it's the only place I want to play, so I was waiting for the phone call and was really happy when I got it."

Manager Danny Grainger, also speaking to the club's website, added: "Robbie was very unlucky with his injury last year. We still think there's loads to come from him and he's just going to get better and better.

"He can play multiple positions, and we expect him to kick on."

The Reds' boss is also hoping that 27-year-old Bowman can seize his opportunities this season. The centre-forward has been on the edge of the starting lineup since coming to the club in summer 2019.

Speaking to the club's website, Bowman said: "It's good to have an aim for the season ahead now as I'm sick of doing nothing!

"I've been waiting for it to come back around so we can, hopefully, rectify two seasons where we've not been promoted."

Grainger added: "Chaz is a player who I can't speak highly enough of; he's a fantastic lad to have in the dressing room, he never lets us down and he's got a great relationship with the fans.

"We feel this could be the year that he kicks on."
