Super Fan Dave Hill is set to represent Workington Town at Wembley.

Dave, from Seaton, was selected to sing in a 32-strong fans' choir, in a competition organised by BBC's Songs of Praise.

He will sing Abide With Me in front of a packed house before this season's Challenge Cup final.

"After one of the matches on BBC they said they were looking for a fans choir in partnership with Songs of Praise and I said I would love to do that.

"So I had to submit a 300 word essay on why I was such a passionate fan," said Dave, who will travel to Wembley with wife Judith and children Lauren and Scott.

"I then got a phone call about three weeks ago from the BBC saying I had got through."

Dave has always enjoyed singing, especially on a karaoke, but this is the first time he has ever sang in front of this size of audience.

"I was in a choir as a kid but never anything like this," he admitted. "But I am really looking forward to it.

"Abide With Me is such a big rugby league song, it is always sung before the Challenge Cup final and it tugs on everyone's heart strings."

Dave's wife Judith helped him put together the essay that got him selected for the Wembley trip.

He explained that rugby league and Workington Town have always played a big part in his life.

"My dad took me to my first match when I was just 18 months old and he put me on the dugout with my bottle and I have been hooked ever since," said Dave.

"I have always been there to help out with stuff for the World Cup and and I was there after the floods, helping to put straw on the pitch.

"I had to give up playing rugby through injury but I went on to play touch rugby and I represented England for that.

"I just can't believed it really, I am so looking forward to this."
