AFTER being postponed twice due to Covid, the 10th Anniversary Wigton Open Art Exhibition is finally set to take place.
The exhibition will run from Thursday, May 26 until Friday, June 3 in the Cumbria Suite of Wigton Market Hall from 10am–4pm. Admission is free.
The exhibition will feature over 100 entries from professional and amateur artists living and working within a 30-mile radius of Wigton, including work by internationally famous names such as Margaret Harrison, Conrad Atkinson, Julian Heaton Cooper, Linda Ryle and Ceri Allen. Sculptor Ruth Charlton will also show a cabinet of her miniature pieces.
This year’s curator, Brian Campbell, said: “As a teacher here for almost 60 years I have become very familiar with the rich vein of local artistic talent.
“Curating the 10th Anniversary Open Exhibition renews my contact with so many excellent Cumbrian painters, both amateur and professional.
"It gives me enormous pleasure to see such a wealth of subject matters so beautifully displayed in the lovely Cumbria Suite of Wigton Market Hall.”
Contributors are reminded to hand in their work on the morning of Wednesday, 25th May from 10am–12pm.
There will be an official opening by the Mayor of Wigton at 7pm on the Thursday, all visitors welcome!
