A NEW inclusive play area for Workington is set to open by Easter, after funding provided to the town council by the GDF fund.

Workington Town Council has announced a new play area for the town's Vulcan Park, which will replace the current play area at the site.

Construction of the play area is currently underway in the park by contractors Produlic, with the work expected to be completed in the next five to six weeks.

The new play area will include a number of new features such as a parent and child swing, a group swing and a new feature which will include six types of climbing apparatus and two slides.

The play area will also be 'inclusive' with picnic tables as well as an inclusive eight user springer and musical area for users to enjoy, and inclusive swing features.

A Workington Town Council spokesman said: "Workington Town Council are delighted to announce there will be a new play area in Vulcan Park.

"Grant funding from the GDF fund was kindly granted to us at the end of last year and we are now in the process of fitting an new, inclusive, play area for the children of Workington.

"We expect the play area to be completed in the next five to six weeks (weather permitting) so will, very hopefully, be available by Easter.

"We would like to thank the GDF Fund for their amazing grant and Proludic who are building our great new play area."
